(On Rumplestiltskin's voice)“There’s no way I could speak in my normal voice while looking so extraordinary and while having this bizarre stuff to say,” the actor reasoned. “I tried many different types of voices and the thing that I landed on was completely by chance, really, thanks to my son. He was wandering though the house making these high-pitched voices and sounds I thought, ‘Rumpelstiltskin has a child-like quality to him, he kind of enjoys gleefully tricking people.’”

There's something about these performances in the past few years. In a slight sense it’s about age but without a doubt it has also given me what I used to call weight. I remember when I was in Scotland and I first started acting with these older actors and they had weight. They didn’t have to act. It was just there. I think I’m finally on that path to gravitas.“

OK, I finally got to see last night's episode.

The big question: Does Zelena control Rumple? Is she controlling him with the dagger or something else?

When Rumple talks about the madness, is he deliberately slipping into insanity? Is madness allowing him some kind of freedom from Zelena's control? Or is it helping her for him to lose it? Or is he insane from being locked up and/or near death experiences and Zelena couldn't care less?

When Rumple told Zelena she should have never brought him back, did he meant back to Storybrooke or back to life? I'm assuming he was only mostly dead, as Miracle Max would say.

Rumple doesn't abandon his children. Even Regina, who is more like a niece or quasi-goddaughter. He maintains a dysfunctional relationship with her. So, if Zelena's take on her life is accurate (open to debate), I don't see Rumple throwing her away.

On the other hand, I'm not sure if I trust Zelena's take on her life.

Although her outward reaction was slight to the news of Cora and Rumple's deaths, I think it represented a strong feeling. But, so far, her treatment of Rumple seems more like rejected-student than rejected-daughter.

With Regina, the "loved" daughter, she's got sibling rivalry coming out her ears. She steals her castle and her clothes. She sets things up so Regina will know she's been using her stuff. She's spent at least eight months getting things ready for the curse (moving a monkey in to keep an eye on Emma). Regina admits that, if someone wanted to cast a curse to make her miserable, this would be it. She's doing everything she can to get at Regina.

With Rumple, she's making sure Rumple knows she has the power. That fits the rejected-student. But, if she were his daughter, I think she'd be rubbing Neal (and whatever she's done to him) in Rumple's face. She'd be targeting Henry as Rumple's grandson.

I'm evenly split on whether Rumple or Zelena sent the message and potion. If it was Rumple, sending Hook instead of Neal makes lots of sense, if only because Hook was stepping into more danger by going after Emma. However, if Rumple could protect Neal from Zelena's curse, I'd think he'd protect Belle, too (note that Belle was more vindictive towards Regina than she's been in the past at the town meeting--and more vindictive than she was when they returned to FTL. There may be something going on there).

On the other hand, if Zelena wants Regina to suffer, she would want Henry back in Storybrooke without his memories. But, she still broke into the office--even though that meant revealing she could get past Regina's blood magic. Zelena may also not realize that flying monkeys are a dead give-away in this world.

I am not sure that Rumple is really mad or playing Zelena. He comes across very convincing, and being the DO part of it is probably true. But he could be doing this also so that she'll eventually let her guard down and he can pounce. Rumple is extremely clever. The most of probably anyone on the show.

But if he is mad, then I do hope that seeing Belle, and Neal will help him remember and bring out the man again.

so you tihnk he might be playing games with the WW, but still might not remember people? Do you think he'll remember his "death"

A/E are probably giving him a bit of a reboot. He became a hero and a good man at the mid season finale. So I'm wondering if A/E want him to regress and the mad, having been dead from sacrifcing himself will do that.

I hope not, but I could see them doing that.
